Steps for Keeping Tools Rust-Free
Skip all the hard work and follow these easy steps for rust-free tools.
Prep
In a container, pour enough CRC EVAPO-RUST® to cover the rusted object completely. Removing excess dirt and oil on the object before soaking is best.
Soak
Allow the rusty object to soak for 30 minutes for light rust or up to overnight for extremely heavy rust.
Rinse
Thoroughly rinse the item with water. If deep rust remains in pits, continue soaking until all the rust is gone. Un-rusted metal will not be affected.
NOTE: This stage is especially important in getting the best results.
Save the CRC EVAPO-RUST® and re-use it again later. You can get a ton of uses out of one bottle.
Finish
Allow the item to air dry, or dry the item.
Spray with CRC RUST-BLOCK™ after air drying to prevent re-rusting for up to one year.
You can continue to re-use CRC EVAPO-RUST® until its effectiveness starts to wear off.
One gallon of CRC EVAPO-RUST® will remove 1/2 pound of pure dry rust.
You will know that the rust remover has lost effectiveness when the bath is completely black and stops working.
Pro Tips to Prevent Rusty Tools
- Clean and dry your tools completely after every usage.
- Store tools in a dry, dust-free area with low humidity.
- Spray them occasionally with CRC RUST-BLOCK™.
- Use silica gel packs in your toolboxes, or use a wooden toolbox.
- For the very serious, use a dehumidifier in your tool room.
